The Sustainable Heart of Ockham

Introducing the Former Wisley Airfield

Taylor Wimpey has secured permission for a new community on the site of the former Wisley Airfield. Envisaged as three distinct neighbourhoods, the proposals will create a unique community of 1,730 homes supported by a wide range of community facilities, as part of proposals to meet the need for new homes and infrastructure locally. Of these homes, 40% (692) will be designated for affordable rent or purchase, delivered by award-winning provider VIVID Homes.

Designed as a sustainable community around a village green, Taylor Wimpey is proposing all the essential amenities needed for daily life, including shops, cafes, healthcare and education facilities.

With a vast Country Park and sports facilities available to all, our aim is to create a vibrant community where people can live, work, learn, relax and have a close connection to nature.

The Former Wisley Airfield is founded upon six principles for Making Sustainable Places. Six videos have been made to show how Taylor Wimpey has been guided by each of the principles in designing the development.

History of the site

The site is allocated for large-scale residential-led development and has been removed from the Green Belt in the Guildford Borough Council Local Plan in April 2019. It currently includes c. 70 acres of concrete runway and hardstanding (roughly equivalent to a four-mile stretch of the M25) which will be repurposed and reused.
