Taylor Wimpey submits hybrid planning application for former Wisley Airfield

Taylor Wimpey has submitted a hybrid planning application to Guildford Borough Council for up to 1,730 homes and community facilities on the former Wisley Airfield site. The proposals follow a wide reaching programme of public consultation which has taken place since the homebuilder acquired the site in March 2020.

The proposals will feature 40% affordable homes, delivered through its affordable housing partner, VIVID and other community offerings include healthcare and education provision.

The proposals are centred around sustainable modes of transport providing connectivity to local destinations including train stations. This will include a new bus service which will be a key responsibility of the new community trust

The proposals achieve at least 20% biodiversity net gain and replaces intensive agriculture and concrete with over 60ha (148 acres) of wildlife habitat within the Country Park (SANG) and additional greenspaces, creating a species-rich mosaic of wildflower grassland, scrub, woodland and ponds to support a diverse range of species.

Taylor Wimpey has held a series of consultation events, both online and in-person, giving the community the opportunity to find out about the proposals for the site through discussion with the panel of expert consultants throughout our four chapters of engagement. Feedback from these consultation events and a host of other material, including newsletters, meeting minutes and presentation, have been published here.

The application has been submitted to Guildford Borough Council, you can submit your comments by searching application number 22/P/01175. For further information regarding the contents of the proposals, please click here.
